A tenancy record in RentalBux links your property, your tenant, and your financial data together in one place. Once it's set up, everything else runs from it. Here's how to get your first tenancy set up.
Before you start — what you'll need
The tenant's full name and contact details (email address and phone number)
The tenancy start date and end date (for fixed-term tenancies)
The monthly rent amount
The day when the first rent period ends
The day of the month rent is due
The deposit amount (if applicable)
Step-by-step: Adding a tenancy
Go to My Properties > Tenancies in your sidebar.
Click Add Tenancies.

Select the property and unit from the dropdown. If you haven't added the property yet, go to Portfolio > Add Property first.

Enter the tenancy start and end date.
Select the income account, add rent details and interval.
Select the tenant from the drop-down list or click on Add to add a new one.

Enter the receipt details:
When will the first rent period end
When the first rent is due

Enable notification reminders
Auto Send Payment Request (Sends a reminder to the tenant before the mention number of days before the due date)
Auto Send the Invoice (Issues an invoice before or after the entered number of days of each rental period)

Click Save Tenancy.
Your new tenancy will appear in your Tenancy Management dashboard, linked to the property and will look something like this:

Quick Tip: Set up automated invoicing from day one — it saves you having to create invoices manually every month and ensures your income records stay up to date automatically.
What happens next?
Once a tenancy is saved, RentalBux will:
Create monthly rent invoices automatically before/after the due date (if enabled)
Send automated rent reminder emails to the tenant before each payment is due (if enabled)
Track whether each invoice is paid or overdue on your dashboard
Link all income and expense records for this property to the tenancy period for reporting purposes
Can I have more than one tenancy per property?
Yes — for example, if you have a room-by-room HMO. Add a separate tenancy record for each unit/tenant. You can also add multiple consecutive tenancies for the same property unit (when one tenant leaves and another moves in) — RentalBux keeps the records for each period separately.
