A gas safety certificate that quietly expires while a tenant is living in your property isn't just an admin headache — it's a criminal offence. RentalBux's expiry alert system exists to make sure that never happens to you.
How expiry alerts work
When you upload a document and enter its expiry date, RentalBux automatically schedules reminders.
Setting up alert preferences
When you add a compliance document from the property module, you can choose the expiry date. You will receive expiry notification via mail and within the app at different intervals.

Dashboard alerts
In addition to email and in-app notifications, your RentalBux dashboard has a card in the top right corner below your profile which will show upcoming tasks. The upcoming expiry reminders are available here too.
What to do when you receive an expiry alert
Book the renewal — a Gas Safe engineer, electrical contractor, EPC assessor, or whichever professional you need.
Once you have the new certificate, upload it to RentalBux straight away.
Enter the new expiry date.
The alert will clear automatically once the new document is saved, and the older one is removed.
What if a certificate has already expired?
Check the Upcoming Tasks card on your dashboard regularly. If you see a expired status, treat it as urgent. For a Gas Safety Certificate, you have a legal duty to renew before your tenant continues to live in the property. For an EICR, you should arrange an inspection as soon as possible and inform your tenant in writing.
